James P. Hoffa (Notable Supporter; Government). James P. Hoffa is a national leader in labor rights. As General President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, he has led the way in lifting thousands of American workers out of poverty and into the middle class. Hoffa leads the Teamsters in their fight to secure safe, clean jobs that are good for the working class, good for local communities and good for the environment. Most notably, Hoffa has been praised for his work with the Clean Trucks Program, which has reduced truck pollution at the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles by nearly 80 percent. Simultaneously, the program seeks to raise the living standards and affirm the rights of port truck drivers. The Teamsters have also partnered with the Sierra Club, Public Citizen and the Blue Green Alliance to begin building an economy characterized by sustainable, green, union jobs.
