  • San Diego Coastkeeper (Civil Society) San Diego Coastkeeper has been working on reducing plastic pollution in San Diego for the past decade through community involvement and political advocacy. Through weekly beach cleanups, quarterly educational events, and relationships with local government, they aim to reduce the amount of plastic pollution we create by lobbying for local and state-wide policy change in regards to what kinds of plastic is allowed to be sold.

  • Sea Shepherd (Civil Society) Founded by Captain Paul Watson, a world renowned, respected leader in environmental issues and co-founder of Greenpeace, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) USA is a non-profit conservation organization whose mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. Established in 1977, Sea Shepherd uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. Sheikh Al Nuaimi is currently serving as environmental advisor to Ajman Government, CEO of Al Ihsan Charity Centre supporting less fortunate families and children, and international senior board advisor at WANA Forum in Jordan. On 2010 Sheikh Al Nuaimi awarded the Islamic Personality by Fujairah Quranic Award in the UAE and this year 2011 he was awarded for Community Responsibility at Ajman Science Day.
