  • Marcus Eriksen, Ph.D. (Science Advisors; Founding Member) Dr. Eriksen is an advocate for ocean conservation, as the Director of Project Development for the Algalita Marine Research Foundation. In 2006, he won the H. David Nahai Water Quality Award in Education for his conservation work with inner-city students; in 2008, he won the Menzie Education Award from the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry for marine education. Recently, Marcus co-founded “5 Gyres Institute”, to study and communicate plastic pollution in the 5 large ocean gyres in the world. Marcus was elected a National Fellow of the Explorers Club in 2010.
  • Environmental Working Group (Civil Society, Research, Education, Health) EWG's mission is to use the power of public information to protect public health and the environment. With their nonprofit and advocacy (EWG Action Fund) sides working together, EWG specializes in providing useful resources (like Skin Deep and the EWG's Shopper's Guide to Pesticides™) to consumers while simultaneously pushing for national policy change.

Our professional team combines independent research, practical ideas and tough-minded advocacy to overcome the opposition of powerful special interests and win real results for California’s environment.
  • Ecology Center (Civil Society; Education) Facilitates urban lifestyles consistent with the goals of ecological sustainability, social equity, and economic development.
  • Earth Resource Foundation (Civil Society; Education) an environmental educational non-profit organization developed to empower the general public with the resources needed to make environmentally sustainable choices and changes. It is the belief of ERF that people want to act responsibly but are either unaware of their negative impact on the environment or are hindered by barriers that prohibit them from acting responsibly.

  • Center for Biological Diversity (Education) The Center for Biological Diversity works through science, law and creative media to secure a future for all species, great or small, hovering on the brink of extinction. The oceans program engages in efforts to protect our ocean ecosystems and marine life threatened by overfishing, fossil fuels, and pollution.
  • Californians Against Waste (Civil Society; Education; Youth) Dedicated to conserving resources, preventing pollution and protecting California’s environment through the development, promotion and implementation of waste reduction and recycling policies and programs.
  • Jackson Browne (Musician / Composer; Founding Member). Jackson Browne has written some of the most moving songs in popular music. Inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, he’s defined a genre of songwriting charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. He has released fifteen studio albums and three collections of live performances; his most recent, Love is Strange features David Lindley. They translate the growing body of scientific evidence linking breast cancer and environmental exposures into public education and advocacy campaigns that protect our health and reduce breast cancer risk.
