Art Installation Highlights Plastic Pollution in Greenville, S.C.

Environmentalist and artist Pam Longobardi has long used the detritus of human life to highlight the issues in our collective relationship to nature.  For her latest installation, at Falls Park in Greenville, South Carolina, Longobardi joined together with students from the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities to clean up the Park’s Reedy River, then used the trash they found in the river to create a sculpture that spans it.  The idea is to draw attention to the problem of plastics in our waterways and oceans, and inspire the local community to take care of its valuable waterways.
